&Beyond Crater Lodge

Filled with ornate artworks and lavish furnishings this lodge epitomises refined living and is paired with an unbeatable Crater rim location. Game viewing by vehicle and on foot is balanced by indulgent downtime in opulent surroundings. Style, setting and safari.

&Beyond Crater Lodge consists of 3 separate camps (North, South and Tree) each with a lounge, dining room, open fire, picture windows with crater views and large viewing deck. This is your lavish home in the bush, complete with gilded mirrors, antique furniture, hand-woven rugs and attentive butler service.

Suites, modelled on local dwellings and built of mud and thatch, are similarly opulent. Crystal chandeliers (made locally by Maasai!), wooden-panelled walls, plush throws, silk curtains, polished teak floors and an open fireplace create a sense of luxury. The bathroom has both a shower and a deep bathtub ideal for an indulgent soak. Glass doors from the bedroom open on to the terrace which faces the Ngorongoro Crater.

You are invited to take 4x4 game drives in the crater, famous for its diverse and plentiful wildlife, join a guide on a walking safari, enjoy banquets in the bush and take a stroll in the camp’s grounds. Further exercise is provided by your ‘gym in a basket’, and you can relax with a massage.

This is a place for a special occasion – honeymooners love it, but any celebratory trip would be enhanced by a stay here. There’s nowhere else like it.

Children are welcome and the lodge offers a special programme of events and activities for youngsters, though overall it’s more of place for adults in our view.

Times to Go

Game viewing in Ngorongoro Crater is good all year round, but considered best in the dry season when the grass is shorter, between July and October.
